PBandDev has released the ComfyUI Node Organizer, an extension designed to automatically organize nodes in complex AI workflows. The tool addresses the common challenge of managing intricate node-based interfaces by providing intelligent layout optimization for ComfyUI users.

Key Features and Layout Capabilities

The Node Organizer introduces several sophisticated organizational features that enhance workflow management:

Execution order layout following data flow from left to right
Compact bin packing to reduce vertical workspace height
Advanced handling of disconnected nodes and annotations
Reroute chain optimization and collapse
Nested group support with hierarchical arrangement
Subgraph support with I/O node handling

Users can leverage unique layout tokens to customize node arrangements, such as Horizontal and Vertical orientations. Each orientation can be distributed from 2 up to 9 rows or columns. The extension supports case-insensitive tokens and provides intelligent placement for complex workflows.

Notable Limitations

'This extension has not been thoroughly tested with very large or complex workflows,' notes the developer. They encourage users to report any issues by opening a GitHub issue with a minimal reproducible workflow. This is a very good sign for future improvements.
