Andreszs Debuts ComfyUI-OpenPose-Studio for Visual Pose Editing

ComfyUI-OpenPose-Studio is a new extension that brings visual pose editing directly into the ComfyUI interface. Users can create, adjust, and organize OpenPose skeletons without leaving their workflow, making it easier to control character poses in image generation pipelines.
Developer Andreszs built this tool from scratch as a modern replacement for the older OpenPose Editor node. It maintains full compatibility with legacy JSON formats while offering a cleaner interface and better organization tools for managing pose libraries.
What the new pose editor offers
- Real-time visual keypoint editing with drag-and-drop controls.
- Pose gallery with automatic file discovery and thumbnail previews.
- Pose collections for organizing multiple poses in single files.
- Pose merger to combine separate JSON files into organized libraries.
- Standard OpenPose JSON export compatible with ControlNet workflows.
- Background overlay system for using reference images while editing.
Artists working on complex multi-character compositions can use the pose gallery and merger features to build organized libraries of reusable poses. The ability to load reference images as overlays helps match poses to source material without switching between applications.
Development status and practical notes
The extension is actively maintained, though it is not yet available through ComfyUI Manager. Users will need to install it manually by cloning the repository into their custom_nodes folder. The developer is actively seeking feedback and feature requests through the repository's issue tracker.
One current limitation affects users running ComfyUI's newer Nodes 2.0 system. The developer notes that supporting this feature
'is a large and time-consuming refactor'
and requires additional funding for AI development tokens. For now, users should disable Nodes 2.0 to avoid compatibility issues. Hand and face keypoint editing is also planned for a future release.
